The floods that hit Emilia-Romagna in May, killing at least 15 people and displacing thousands, also hit beekeeping hard: initial estimates speak of more than 250 million bees killed by the floods and landslides.

In addition to honey production, beekeeping is fundamental to the region’s economy and agriculture. Without pollination, in fact, many of the area’s crops are at risk.
